JOHN GORECKI, MD, FRCS, FACS

Compassionate, Experienced Neurosurgical Care

Facing a neurological diagnosis is stressful, and the surgeon you choose matters. Dr. John Gorecki brings more than 35 years of neurosurgical experience together with something just as important: the willingness to listen, so you feel understood as well as cared for.

Medicine runs deep in his family. He grew up among physicians, and healing has been part of his life for as long as he can remember — a calling two of his four children are now continuing in medicine of their own. That view of medicine as service is what he brings to every patient he sees.

Training and Teaching

Dr. Gorecki completed his medical education at Queen's University and his neurosurgical residency at the University of Toronto, including advanced fellowship training in stereotactic and functional neurosurgery. He is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

He has also helped train the next generation of surgeons, holding faculty appointments at Duke University Medical Center and the University of Mississippi School of Medicine.

Advanced, Patient-Centered Treatment Options

Brain and spine surgery calls for precision. Dr. Gorecki focuses on techniques that are as targeted, and where appropriate as minimally invasive, as each condition allows, using image-guided navigation to plan and carry out treatment. His clinical areas include:

  • Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS): Helping to control the symptoms of Parkinson's disease, essential tremor, and other movement disorders.

  • Stereotactic Radiosurgery (Gamma Knife): Treating conditions such as trigeminal neuralgia, acoustic neuromas, and certain brain tumors without traditional open surgery.

  • Collaborative Skull-Base Care: Performing transnasal endoscopic pituitary surgery together with specialized ENT teams.

  • Comprehensive Spinal Care: Evaluating and treating a wide range of spinal conditions, from common to complex.

Whether the best path forward is surgery or a more conservative approach, Dr. Gorecki takes the time to understand your symptoms and your goals, and stays focused on your health and quality of life at every step.
